Adobe Firefly App Now on Mobile for AI Photo & Video Creation

Adobe is bringing its generative AI tools to a broader audience, officially launching the Firefly application for both iOS and Android smartphones.

Adobe appears determined to position its platform as the top choice for creators. The move builds on the momentum from last April, when the company revamped the Firefly web experience, allowing users to experiment with both its native and third-party models.

That same powerful experience is now available right from your phone, combining Adobe's suite of creative tools with powerful AI models from industry giants like Google and OpenAI.

The new application is designed to empower users to create and edit images and videos on the go, all while maintaining seamless integration with the Creative Cloud ecosystem.

Firefly's Capabilities on Your Phone

According to Adobe's announcement, the app comes loaded with the full range of capabilities that the Firefly web platform is known for.

You can now input simple or detailed text prompts to transform your ideas into unique images or engaging video clips.

It also includes popular smart editing tools like Generative Fill and Generative Expand, features that have gained immense popularity within Photoshop.

A key strength of the mobile version is its ability to automatically sync projects with the user’s Creative Cloud account. This feature simplifies the workflow, making it easy to move between a smartphone and desktop applications like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom.

Diverse AI Models

Adobe's updates aren't limited to its proprietary AI models; the company has also opened the door to integrating models from other leading firms.

A report from The Verge notes that Firefly mobile users will have options to use Google's Imagen and Veo models, as well as image generation models from OpenAI. TechCrunch also mentioned that additional models from companies like Flux, Ideogram, and Runway will be available, further expanding the creative possibilities.

Firefly Boards Evolves with New Video Capabilities

In a related update, Adobe highlighted enhancements to its collaborative platform, Firefly Boards.

The digital whiteboard-style platform now supports video creation, using either Adobe's native models or tools from competitors.

Generative AI's Growing Reach and Positive User Feedback

This launch arrives as generative AI tools are experiencing a surge in interest.

The company reported that users have already generated over 24 billion assets using Firefly models, and these features have contributed to a 30% quarter-over-quarter increase in new subscribers.

The company's blog also shared testimonials from early users, highlighting the app's utility.

For instance, creator Kiki Kirk explained that she uses the app to generate diverse backgrounds for her videos, allowing her to film herself in different locations without leaving home.

Similarly, Syd Bugg finds the app useful for quickly and efficiently filling gaps in b-roll footage.

The app is now available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
