TikTok platform has launched a new feature named "AI Alive," which leverages artificial intelligence to transform static photos into short videos filled with motion and visual effects.
Currently available through TikTok's Stories feature, the tool aims to offer a temporary, interactive experience similar to the platform's quick publishing style.
Users begin by selecting a static photo, then are prompted to write a text description of what they wish the image to transform into, such as converting it into an anime-style scene or an old classic game.

According to initial experiments published by tech editors, the results appear varied in terms of quality and accuracy.
Some effects look unrealistic, particularly when animating fine details like tails or paws in animal photos.
In certain instances, completely unexpected elements showed up, such as adding giant cups unrelated to the original scene.
Such inaccurate results are not uncommon with image generators and reflect the unpredictable nature of outputs from generative AI technologies.
Nonetheless, the feature serves as a unique entertainment experience, potentially gaining significant popularity among users seeking innovative and peculiar content.
The tool also permits entering free prompts, alongside suggestions automatically provided by the platform. While the generated video duration doesn't exceed a few seconds, the processing requires several minutes before the result is displayed.
Regarding security, TikTok confirmed an automated review system for the image, description, and final output before the video is shown to the user, with an additional check upon publishing to ensure content adherence to platform policies.
Furthermore, generated videos are tagged with a label indicating they are AI-generated, incorporating C2PA data to enhance transparency.
The feature remains limited in scope for now, yet it offers a glimpse into the future of editing tools within social applications, granting us vast creative capabilities without needing any technical expertise or complex video editing skills.
