Microsoft has announced the launch of a new tool called "Bing Video Creator" within its Bing mobile application.
This tool is powered by OpenAI's advanced Sora model, renowned for its ability to transform text into video clips, and offers this service to users without requiring paid subscriptions.
Making Sora's Capabilities Accessible to Everyone
In its announcement on Monday, Microsoft clarified that "Bing Video Creator" is part of its ongoing efforts to make AI video generation capabilities accessible to everyone.

The company stated: "We believe creativity should be easy and accessible to help you fulfill your search for answers. We're excited to empower anyone to transform their words into wonders through AI-generated video."
Bing Video Creator is rolling out globally to users of the Bing Search apps on Android and iOS, with the exception of China and Russia.
Microsoft indicates that desktop and Copilot search support for the tool will arrive later.
Users can access the video generator through the menu located in the bottom right corner of the Bing app, or by directly adding a description of the desired clip into the Bing search bar.
How Bing Video Creator Works and Video Creation Details

Users can queue up to three video creation requests at once and will receive a notification when they are ready.
Options for generation speed include "Standard," which is free for all users, or "Fast," which operates "in seconds," according to Microsoft.
The company offers ten free fast generations; after that, users must either use the standard speed or redeem 100 Microsoft Rewards points for each additional fast generation.
Currently, videos are five seconds long with a 9:16 vertical aspect ratio, with plans to add support for 16:9 video creation later.
Generated videos are stored on the Bing app for up to 90 days and can be downloaded or shared across other platforms.
Notes on Video Quality and Safety Standards
Initial reports and observations indicate that Microsoft's sample videos, such as those featuring an otter chef or a hamster operating a vacuum, exhibit some unnatural movements and slight distortions, with characters occasionally appearing cartoonish.
Despite this, some believe these samples might be a more realistic representation of Sora's preliminary capabilities compared to the polished clips previously released by OpenAI.
Regarding responsible use, Microsoft affirmed its adherence to the current safety safeguards implemented by OpenAI for the Sora model.
Also, the company integrated extra protections to ensure responsible tool usage.
These measures include controls aimed at limiting the creation of harmful or unsafe video content.
When the system detects that a prompt might lead to the creation of potentially harmful video, it blocks the prompt and alerts the user.
Furthermore, watermarks (Content Credentials) based on the C2PA standard will be added to every video generated using "Bing Video Creator" to help identify AI-created videos.
A Free Opportunity for Video Design, and Tips for Better Results
Bing Video Creator offers users an opportunity to experience the advanced capabilities of the Sora model without needing to pay subscription fees, which were previously necessary to access this technology via OpenAI platforms.
Users can now transform their ideas and textual descriptions into short video clips, whether to bring stories to life, create unique visual content for social media sharing, or even explore various creative possibilities.
Microsoft advised users aiming for optimal results to make their text prompts as descriptive as possible, including details about the scene, characters, actions, and even desired lighting and angles.
Experimenting with different styles, such as "documentary style" or "cartoon," can also contribute to achieving the desired aesthetic.
